Notary Recording / Renewal Services:

• The Town Clerk’s Office will give oaths of office to all new & renewing Connecticut State Notary Publics and keep record of the same.
• There is a $20.00 fee, cash or check payable to “New Fairfield Town Clerk”.

Notary Services:

• Notary Services are offered for a fee of $5.00 per Notarial Act, cash or
  check payable to “New Fairfield Town Clerk”.
• Two forms of identification with signature are required.
• At least one must contain the photograph or a physical description of the
  signer. Acceptable forms of identification include:

1. State-issued driver’s license
2. State-issued identification card
3. U.S. Military identification card
4. Resident alien identification card (green card)
5. U.S. Passport

NOTE: Social Security Cards and Birth Certificates are NOT to be used as a
form of identification. 

**Because of the legal requirements, the Town Clerk’s office will NOT notarize:

• Any type of Deed for property located in New Fairfield
• Wills
• I-9 Forms (Employment Eligibility Verification)
• Birth, Death or Marriage certificates NOT already on file in our office
• Anything from anyone who is not appearing before us in person

Medallion Signature Guarantee

A “medallion signature guarantee” is a special signature required for the sale or transfer of securities. This service is provided only by banks or other financial institutions that have been certified to issue medallion signature guarantees.

Document Authentication and Apostille

An authentication is a sealed certificate that confirms the authority of a public official to act in a particular capacity in connection with a document that he or she has signed. The country in which a document will be used determines the type of certificate that will be attached to the original.
