The New Fairfield Animal Control Department enforces all state laws and town ordinances relating to animals. The department handles calls regarding roaming dogs, nuisance barking, animal bites/attacks, unreasonable tethering or confining of a dog, validation of current rabies vaccination, licensing laws, leash law ordinance compliance, and conducts routine patrols. Dogs found roaming or lost are brought to the New Fairfield Animal Control building. 

Verbal warnings, written warnings, or infractions may be issued pursuant to Chapter 435 of the Connecticut General Statutes. 

New Fairfield Animal Control also handles emergency calls such as reports of animal cruelty, injured dog or cat, and situations involving possible rabid animal exposure to humans or domestic animals. 

If you have an emergency after hours, please call 911. The dispatch and the police will contact Animal Control.
