Mission Statement

The mission of the New Fairfield Fire Marshal's Office is to protect the lives and property of New Fairfield residents and visitors through Code Enforcement, Fire Prevention, and Public Education.

About 

  • The New Fairfield Fire Marshal's Office enforces Chapter 541 of the Connecticut General Statutes. All properties, buildings, and occupancies are inspected in accordance with the Connecticut Fire Safety Code, International Fire Code of the ICC, NFPA 101, and Connecticut Fire Prevention Code, NFPA 1. 
  • Investigate the origin and cause of all fires and explosions following NFPA 921 & 1033.  
  • Issues permits for tents, blasting, transport & storage of explosives, and open burning.  
  • Conduct plan reviews for commercial properties in compliance with CGS 29-263.
  • Assisting the general public and businesses with emergency and pre-incident fire plans and fire exit drills.
