The New Fairfield Drop Off Center receives materials such as garbage, recyclable materials, and yard waste from residents. The material collected at this facility is later transported to other landfills and recycling centers for proper disposal and/or processing. The Drop Off Center has been designed to help residents easily dispose of household waste by utilizing various containers, which are designated for different types of waste. The following information will be helpful to you when using the Drop Off Center.

• Upon entering the Drop Off Center, please stop at the Gate Attendant building, located on the left side, just before the containers. After having your waste assessed and calculated accordingly, the Gate Attendant will direct you to the appropriate disposal location(s).

• There are a series of seven stations with containers to collect various items. The stations are set up as follows: garbage, electronic recyclable, recyclable, scrap metal, demolition, tires, and magazines/newspapers/cardboard.

• As you step up to the fenced area at the opening of each station, you must exercise extreme caution when adding your items to the containers.

• Brooms and shovels are provided for your use. Please help us to maintain a clean facility and keep costs down by cleaning up any debris once you have finished disposing of all of your items.
• Attendants will be available to assist you with any heavy lifting. Senior citizens are urged to request assistance with heavy bundles.

• When disposing of refrigerators at the facility, please remove the doors prior to disposal as a safety precaution.

• Car batteries and used motor oil will be collected in the small garage, located on the right side, directly after the magazines/newspapers/cardboard collection container. For safety purposes, and as a DEP regulation, please do not attempt to dispose of oil into the containment unit. The attendants will do this for you.

• Please be advised that we do not accept paint in liquid form. If you wish to dispose of paint at the facility you must first dry out the paint in the can. You can do this by adding kitty litter to the paint and leaving the lid off so it will dry completely.

• The brush and leaf collection area is located on the left side, as you exit the facility. When disposing of leaves or brush, please remove any foreign objects such as plastic bags, tires, metal etc. and place them in the appropriate disposal containers. Please note that we do not accept stumps, logs, or brush over 4” in diameter and over 4’ in length.
